Das Haus derer, die es mit Leben füllen

A poster made for “Horner Various Vol. 2”. With this exhibition, the culture bar Horner Eck was celebrating the successful purchase of their building as a cooperative. This was made possible through the joint efforts of many people: those involved in Horner Eck and the cooperative most of all, but also those who backed the project through direct loans or supported it in other ways.

This idea of collectively carrying first turned into the drinks tray. A couple drafts later, the tiny houses on that tray looked a lot like drink cartons, and that’s what they became. I then created multiple color layers by inking printed copies of the original black crayon drawing, scanning them and editing them. This analogue-digital process gives the final linework its distinctive texture, created by the superimposition of these many printed lines.

A drinks tray is lifted up by many tiny hands. On the tray are three milk cartons that look like little houses. One has the words ‘the houses of those who live in them’ written on it and another ‘the house of those who fill it with life’. The third is an imitation of the Horner Eck building. In the background are lots of hands holding up champagne glasses.
