What to do when a far-right party seems to be about to win the parliament in unexpected early elections? In France in 2024, designers and artists made posters by the thousands, after two designers set up an online platform to collect poster submissions promoting the hastily formed left-wing alliance Nouveau Front Populaire in a creative, positive, and humorous way. The freely available posters went around in social networks and on the streets.
1. “Vote together so that everyone wins”: My contribution plays on the 2007 election slogan of the conservative Sarkozy, “Work more to earn more.” The words ‘earn’ and ‘win’ are the same in French, as is the sentence structure.
2. “The number one remedy to make Macron sweat” *without fascist aftertaste. Well… If you’re gonna vote out of spite, do it wisely, is all I’m saying.
